Homelessness innovation fund

The Northern Territory Government is establishing an integrated and wrap-around homelessness and supported accommodation system to better help the most vulnerable people in our community.

As part of the Government’s strategy HousingActionNT, a homelessness innovation fund has been established for service providers to trial innovative services. $1 million per year over the next two years is available.

The innovation fund aims to change the way government works with the non-government sector to deliver better housing support for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Applications are now being accepted for the Homelessness Innovation Fund.

Non-government organisations can apply for funding to test innovative ideas and can work together to improve project outcomes. This will help show what works best and what the challenges are in providing homelessness and housing support services in the Territory.

Initiatives could focus on:

  • Service integration
  • Facilitating exit from crisis and supported accommodation
  • Early intervention and prevention responses
  • Private rental access and support programs
  • Scaling up an initiative that has worked on a small scale, or implementing a successful initiative in another location

Projects will be evaluated to see if they could be used in wider system reform.

The application process has two stages:

Stage 1 – request for applications.

Stage 2 – request for detailed proposals from shortlisted applicants.
