Binjari Community Aboriginal Corporation has signed a
historic 99-year lease with the Commonwealth Government over public housing in
the community living area of Binjari, putting in place secure and long-term
tenure arrangements over public housing.
In the heart of Arnhem Land the Ramingining Local Authority
is a shining example of the effectiveness of local decision making at work in
remote communities. Supported and guided by its elected members Councillor Rose
Wurrguwurrgu and Councillor Peter Djumbu, the eleven-member Ramingining
committee has set the bar high by maintaining a 100 percent successful meeting
record in 2016-17. Full quorums have been achieved at the five meetings held
this year, which have all run on time due to the commitment and dedication of
the members led by Chair, Ronnie Garrawurra.
