Long term leases and rental opportunities for builders and developers
The Department of Housing and Community Development has released requests for proposals from the construction and property development sector to increase its stock of social housing.
Property developers interested in long-term leases are being encouraged to submit a proposal to supply properties as social housing.
This is part of a five year plan to increase the availability of housing by 250 properties.
This year, the focus is on Darwin, Katherine, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek, and information sessions will be held in each of these regional centres.
The head-leasing initiative will give property developers financial security, with six year leases at market rent, with the potential to extend for a further three years.
In particular, the department is searching for properties currently under construction, or development plans which can be started immediately and completed before June 2020.
Proposals for existing properties less than five years old may also be considered.
This request for proposals closes on 1 September 2017, 2pm.
