PHSOs adopt video technology

Some of the Public Housing Safety Officers (PHSOs) in Darwin and Alice Springs will be trialling body worn video cameras this month.

The use of this equipment will help with safety concerns and allow for more accurate reporting of incidents and interactions between PHSOs, tenants and the public.

The cameras will be running whenever a PHSO enters a public housing premises and the common area of public housing complexes.  All persons will be notified if they are being recorded.

Following the six week trial, the body worn video cameras will become a part of the PHSOs standard equipment.
