Pride in Your Place award February winner

Are you a public housing tenant who takes pride in their house and yard? We want to reward you for your efforts.

We have revamped our Public Housing Garden Competition.

In what will now be known as the “Pride In Your Place Awards”, all public housing tenants in urban and remote areas of the Northern Territory will be eligible to win a monthly prize of a $200 gift voucher and a certificate signed by the Minister for Housing and Community Development.

The monthly awards are designed to recognise and thank tenants who look after their garden and maintain their property.

Tenants can be nominated any time during the year by a staff member from the Department of Housing and Community Development.  All you need to do is make sure your property is in great shape, and our staff will do the rest.  With your permission, they will fill in a nomination form, and take photos to put you in the running.

So whether you have an arid garden, your fruit trees are at their best in the wet, or your pot plants are in top shape in the dry - you’re in with a chance to be one of our monthly winners.

Myrtle McBean is the inaugural winner of the Pride In Your Place Awards.

Residing in Katherine, Mrs McBean finds happiness in presenting a tidy home, and tidy yard.

At 77 years of age, our housing officers often find Mrs McBean pottering around her garden ensuring her home is presentable.

Mrs McBean will receive the $200 monthly prize and a certificate signed by the Minister for Housing and Community Development.
