Apprentices and trainees
The department has several apprentice positions throughout the NT. Apprentices study for a Certificate II or III in Business Administration and receive structured employment and training.

The department hosts school-based apprentices. Apprentices study for a Certificate II in Business Administration. You attend the workplace two days a week and your high school three days a week. You receive structured employment and training.

Graduate development program
The program is designed to develop new generations of employees whose ideas, ambitions and leadership potential will help shape the future of the Northern Territory Government. The department currently has two full-time graduates and is looking to employ further graduates in commerce, social work, law and accounting.

The cadetships are part of the Government’s commitment to increase the representation of Indigenous people in the Northern Territory Public Service (NTPS).
You study full-time and work at the department during major semester breaks. You will have a mentor throughout your cadetship.

The program provides students undertaking their first full-time degree at a recognised Australian university with valuable learning opportunities and paid workplace experience in the NTPS.
